Sports Offerings by Season

FALL

Cross Country: This is a Fall sport open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The Cross Countryseason begins during the first full week of school and lasts until Veteran’s Day, November 11.  Cross Country practices 1 to 2 times a week immediately after school at Hecksher Park. In case of inclement weather practices will take place in the gym. Meets can take place any day of the week, including weekends. Some meet locations include Sunken Meadow, Belmont Park, Southhaven Park, and Cedar Creek. This past season the CMSAA posted a 13 meet schedule. It is the CMSAA policy that all runners participate in at least seven meets. If you do not participate in at least seven meets you do not qualify for the Championships. During the Fall season, we allow the 7th and 8th grade students to participate in both Cross Country and Soccer if they would like to.  Games and meets take precedence over practices.

Soccer: This is a Fall sport open to only the 7th and 8th graders. The Soccer season begins duringthe first full week of school and lasts until Veteran’s Day, November 11. The soccer teams are on the field at least three days a week. The practices, as well as home games, are held at Breezy Park. The soccer season is typically 8 – 10 games with half of them being home games. During the Fall season, we allow the 7th and 8th grade students to participate in both Cross Country and Soccer if they would like to. Games and meets take precedence over practices.

WINTER
Basketball: This is a Winter sport open to only the 7th and 8th graders. Tryouts are held for our basketball teams the week before Thanksgiving so that practices can begin as soon as we return from Thanksgiving break. The season begins in early December and ends in early March. Thebasketball teams play at least 3 days a week depending on their game schedule. The basketball season is typically a ten game schedule with half the games as well as all practices being held in our St. Patrick’s gym. This year, during the Winter season, we will allow the 7th and 8th grade students to participate in both Basketball and Bowling if they would like to. Games and matches take precedence over practices.

Bowling: This is a Winter sport open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The bowling season begins after the Christmas break and lasts until the beginning of March. Most of our bowling matches takes place on Fridays in Commack. This year, during the Winter season, we will allow the 7th and 8th grade students to participate in both Basketball and Bowling if they would like to. Games and matches take precedence over practices.

SPRING
Volleyball: This is a Spring sport open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. If there are any 6th, 7th, and8th grade boys who would like to participate in volleyball we can roster a coed team. Thevolleyball season begins in mid-March and can run until the last week in May. Our teams are on the court three days a week, whether it be a game or a practice. Our volleyball teams typically have an eight game schedule with half of their games and all of their practices being held in our gym.

Lacrosse: This is a Spring sport open to our 7th and 8th grade students. The lacrosse season begins in mid-March and can run until the last week in May. Our teams are on the field three days a week, whether it be a game or a practice. Our lacrosse teams typically have an eight game schedule with half of their games and all of their practices being held at Breezy Park. Lacrosse players must provide their own equipment.

Softball/Baseball: During the Spring of the 2015-2016 school year we are looking to begin a Softball and Baseball team. This sport will be open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Thesoftball/baseball season will begin in mid-March and can run until the last week in May.

St. Patrick’s Golf Program
The St. Patrick’s Golf program is five weeks of instructional sessions for one hour per week.  It is currently open to all 4th–8th graders. These sessions take place at the Town of Oyster Bay golf course. No golf clubs or prior experience is necessary to take part in this program.

Shamrockettes 
The St. Patrick’s Shamrockettes is open to all students in K-8th grade. Our Shamrockettes perform during Catholic Schools Week, Reading Week, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Spirit Week, and Spirit Night. During the 2015 – 2016 basketball season we would like to have the girls perform cheers during the home games of our basketball teams. Practices take place at various times on Thursdays depending on grade and number of registrants.
